SaveCreatively.com was "born" from desperate times. Out of our need to manage day-to-day. To somehow literally spend less money when we already had barely any money coming in. How can you spend less when every cent is already going to necessities? How do you save something you don't really have? Well, that's what we started looking into and learning all about.
It seemed like so many sites and self-helps books all feature saving money for the future, for "a rainy day". They push ideas like setting up various bank accounts and paying down your debt. Getting rich in just a couple of short years. While those goals are all fine and good, we sure weren't thinking of getting rich. Saving even just $5 bucks a month was beyond us, as every cent was going to monthly bills - food, gas for the car and living expenses. Everything seemed like you had to have money to start saving.
Well, we found ways to save money even though we didn't have any!
Everyone's probably heard of coupons and knows how to use them for the most part. But have you tried to double or triple them? How how about using a coupon that doesn't specify product size, choosing the appropriate item and actually getting it for free at the checkout?! Never mind just using discount coupons, how about coupons that are actually for a FREE item?!
And better yet, we learned about free samples! There are a ton of websites that claim to have freebies. However as we found through our searching, a lot of those sites are poorly maintained, rarely updated and more often than not have limited free offers. Many only take you to a page that wants you to join, share credit card info or complete time-wasting surveys or other offers before supposedly sending your sample. We learned to stay away from those.
Why not let other people see that they can save creatively this way too?! If you're not having to spend money on necessities (like shampoo and toothpaste) than that's more money you'll have for other expenditures, be it paying down debt, covering your monthly bills or making a fun purchase you wouldn't have had the money for otherwise.
The key lies in realizing that every little bit really does add up...and that, is how you can save creatively.
